Many factors contribute to the development of chronic ill health, but the impact of accumulated stress is a major factor that healthcare providers tend to overlook.

Several chronic health conditions, in addition to temporomandibular disorders (TMD), persist in part because a pattern of stress-reactivity gets stuck in the body and hyper-sensitizes a person’s nervous system. You may have heard your doctor refer to this phenomenon as central sensitization.  Strictly speaking, central sensitization refers to increased sensitivity to pain, but I believe it also makes a person even more susceptible to the negative effects of stress from both past and current experiences.

Accumulated stress can potentially interfere with any biological system in the body. It adversely affects digestion, metabolism, oxygen delivery to tissues, and immune function.  It exacerbates inflammation and pain and heightens any emotional tensions and traumas that might already be imprinted in the nervous system. Accumulated stress drains your vitality and hampers your ability to bounce back from infections and events that other people seem more resilient to.

It is not possible for repair and healing to occur when the body and mind are in a state of stress.  The treatments I offer go beyond stress management techniques and coping strategies. These are important tools, but unless the patterns of reactivity that are imprinted in the nervous system are healed and released, the gains from any stress management tools or even a person’s motivation to use them are likely to be short lived.

I use subtle yet powerful energetic therapies to gently resolve these patterns at their core, allowing you to live with more robust health and ease.

I will work with you long term to offer continuity of care so that together we can address all issues that challenge your right to robust health and wellbeing.  My treatment approach takes the whole of you into account to heal the underlying patterns that keep you from living your life with ease.
